Photo dump/long post of our “what’s new weekend” ![]()
Have you heard about Pogue’s Run trail just east of downtown? I had heard about it years ago but have never ventured over to check it out. We ended up parking on the street near Spades Park and then walked the trail to Brookside Park.
Part of the trail we took was on the “glow stone path” I’d love to see it lit up at night! Check out this link for more info if you’re curious ![]()

We also went in search of the Nowland Avenue bridge which was reconstructed in 2023. Just some interesting history here… it was designed by engineer, Daniel Luten, in 1903 and is one of his oldest remaining bridges! It took years to fundraise for the reconstruction and I kinda thought they’d have a sign with a sweet little nod to Luten but turned up with nothing at all that we could find.
We also found the Pogue’s Run tunnel … but DID NOT venture underground ![]()
Pogue’s Run made us hungry, but before lunch we stopped at a pretty cool antique shop. Chris found a Hawaii photo and I bought an old copy of Snow White for my library!
And FINALLY, thanks to the recommendation of Traci Buchanan Hoopingarner…. We went to Tlaolli for lunch!! OMG the tacos! Chris and I both tried the chipotle chicken and carnitas tacos. My 3rd choice I went with the spiced hibiscus. The salsas were very different than what I’ve had anywhere else but they were all VERY tasty! We took our meal outside and it was such a charming atmosphere. The owner was very sweet and even gave me a free hibiscus tea ![]()
I’d definitely recommend all 3 of our new stops from this weekend!
